1. What did you do this past week?

This past week I finished up the Darwin assignment with my partner and then worked on catching up on my ML lectures. Over the weekend, one of my organizations, Texas Consulting, had a org trip to San Antonio which was really fun. We were able to go to 6 flags, tubing, and do a lot more!

2. What’s in your way?

Currently, nothing is in my way

3. What will you do next week?

I hope to start working on the next project as well as finish up catching up on my ML lectures. Other than that, my semester has started to slow down a little bit so it will be nice to maybe explore parts of austin and go on a run or play some racquetball with friends.

4. What did you think of Paper 12. Why extends is evil?

I thought it was a really insightful paper. Once you get over th initial shock value of the title and start understanding what the author is truly trying to say, you find out that everything he is saying makes decent sense. You want to decrease coupling for future maintainability and in order to do so, you must stop using extends and use implements or encapsulation instead.

5. What was your experience of iteration, initializations, and vector?

I think a lot of it makes sense. The progression of the class is pretty reasonable so even though these are advanced concepts, I am able to grasp it fairly well.

6. What made you happy this week?

Going on the Texas Consulting trip was really fun. I haven’t been to 6 flags since high school and I love roller coasters, so I had a blast. Afterwards we went to Black’s BBQ which was really really good. I don’t normally eat BBQ because I think the flavor is generally lacking, but at Black’s I genuinely enjoyed it.

7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Learning how to branch effectively on Git is really helpful for group projects. In Darwin, we were able to use branching effectively to speed up the development process which was great.
